John Mayer 2008.12.06

Attended John Mayer's show at the Nokia Theater this night... his musical talents can't be denied --- mastery at guitar, groovy, rhythmic, energetic, artistic, has his own vibe. It was his solo performance but he used a machine to create his "drum loop" and pedal. It was an awesome concert. I left with notes bouncing off my head.

I think I saw 陶喆 (David Tao) there... or I saw a guy who looked awfully like him.

嫁給我吧 (Marry Me)

Another song that I edited the lyric for fun. The original song is "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now". The new lyric is in Cantonese. This was actually for a friend's wedding. For people from Hong Kong, there's a tradition for the bride's girlfriends to play games with the groom before he can "win" the bride and take her to the wedding ceremony. For this instance, one of the games was for the groom to sing this song for his very lovely wife-to-be who was anxiously waiting for him to "pass" all the games to take her away.

Don't be Good... Be Better, Be the Best

Attended TAXI Road Rally 2008 this weekend. It was delightful to witness so many talents and watch them at Open Mic. Colin's drum with Art's Latin guitar was brilliant.

If I were to name the most prominent thing I got out of the rally, it would have to be "'good enough' is not good enough", especially in the music industry... stand out, the competition is fierce, there's no room for "this is not my best yet". Always be ready, that's the only way opportunity will find you.

Be outstanding and unique. Hold on to persistence, passion and self-belief. Never stop improving.

My mobile (car) has accompanied me for over 60000 miles.... rain or shine... when I'm up or down...
